Watching the snow fall from the dining room, I am grateful that I got the propane tank filled yesterday so that we can sit here and talk about life.
If we were having coffee right now … I would tell you that I am working through the learning curve that comes with moving to a new home in a new state. I am getting used to the 15 minute drive to the edge of town. I am learning that most things take scheduling (one of the biggest things in moving from a city of over 150,000 to a town of just under 35,000). I am getting used to the change of pace. My cousin, who lives in Kentucky, told me that I would find things move at a much slower pace down here.
If we were having coffee right now … I would ask you about gardening in Tennessee. I checked out a couple of books on gardening in the southern states, but I usually find first hand knowledge more helpful. I can’t wait to have the fresh herbs growing on my front porch again, and fresh tomatoes, and fresh peppers.
If we were having coffee right now … I would tell you how tired I am of people who force their political opinion on others and if you don’t agree with them then you are wrong. Last I looked, we lived in a country where we were free to have our own opinion and to share it. It doesn’t mean I’m right and you are wrong. It means I believe one way and you another, but it shouldn’t destroy our friendship.
If we were having coffee right now … I would tell you that I miss my kids right now. They still live in Northern Illinois. They are building their families and struggling with their family issues. Yes, I call them and they call me, but it is not the same as seeing them and hugging them.
If we were having coffee right now … I would ask you about garage sales in this area. I’m an avid garage saler. We found one down the road from us in December, and the yard sale that went up in October on highway 50 still has items under tarps. (Not that I would buy a stuffed chair that had been sitting out in the rains we have had since October, but the conglomeration still catches my attention.)
